My students are all in the Gifted and Talented program. This is the first year that our grade levels have participated in the Destination Imagination Program.
All of the students I teach receive free breakfast.
These Gifted and Talented students are usually not challenged in class and typically receive the same assignments as other students.
When they come to my class for Flex Time, I push their creative skills and their teamwork skills. They are working together in their groups to accomplish a given task.
My Project
The materials for this project will be used in my Gifted and Talented class. Students are asked to complete different challenges in which they must construct things out of chenille sticks, craft sticks, straws, toothpicks, plates, and many other daily materials.
This year, students have already been challenged to build a fishing pole out of string, toothpicks, straws, and labels.
Students must work in groups to use the provided materials to complete a certain challenge. These materials are things that we go through on a monthly basis, so we just need these items to restock. The cabinet will be used to store materials for my Gifted and Talented students projects so that they will go unharmed.
