Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students I teach need the extra support and small group pacing to make it through high school math. These students are strong and smart but just need that extra push or a different explanation when it comes to Algebra 1. I work with each student in a STAAR Class to help them master the domains of Algebra 1.
There is a sense of urgency and desire within the students to pass and complete the Algebra 1 course.
The students in this class show lots of growth, both in mathematics and within themselves as they learn problem solving skills and gain confidence.
My Project
What seems to be a list of random office supplies comes together to form a interactive journal that the students put together themselves. The envelopes become the pages of the journal, the color duct tape and clear tape binds the journal together.
These supplies become the base of the journal and the bright paper becomes a reference of the different domains allowing the students to work in the areas they struggle with the most.
The library pockets hold all of the hands on puzzle activities for the kids. Once the journals have been put together the velcro dots keeps everything sealed and in the journal as it becomes a reference to study by.
