Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first grade students have been affected greatly from the coronavirus pandemic. When it first began, all I could do was make sure that my students had a device in which to work online with me. This took countless hours to make it happen. I spoke to parents throughout the day and into the night. My district checked out devices to students and this helped.
At this time, however, my students need help with materials.
When my students left me on a Friday, I was notified it would probably be a few weeks. I sent some materials home with them, but not everything they needed. I feel horrible about this. I want to make sure that my students have what they need to learn at home.
My Project
My first grade students are eager to learn and show up each week for online learning. Unfortunately, my students only have paper and pencil and it is difficult to see their work during our meetings. I would like to provide a white board, eraser, and a marker for each child in my class. I would also like to give each child a copy of the book, Let's Go For A Drive. My students need to continue to read every day and this book will help them with this practice.
I cannot provide these materials without your help.
I want to be able to see their work during online instruction. These boards will be used weekly for instruction. My students will read the book over and over again to practice fluency. My students also LOVE Mo Willems, the author of the book. I know this book will be a big hit!
