Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school, meaning the majority of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. I am currently teaching the ELL students from 2nd to 5th grade. The majority of my students are immigrants. They come to school each day ready to try new things and grow both academically and personally.
The method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.
We do our very best to incorporate a variety of different learning strategies and learning options to ensure that each of the student's needs is being met.
My Project
This laptop will be a powerful tool that will enhance not only my craft as a teacher but my students as well. I will use the Apple MacBook Pro as a tool to prepare myself with the technological demands of Common Core and prepare me to the 21st century. I will create PowerPoint slide shows and graphic organizers of content-based learning to improve my craft as a teacher and support the Common Core State Standards of Technology. I will also be able to acquire new teaching strategies through online professional development of the Common Core State Standards and STEM planning. I need to have access to enchanted learning, the education center, family education, and Scholastic. I also will use it when I attend live professional development to increase my knowledge of technology.
Technology is not just a tool, It can give learners a voice that they may not have had before.
The donation of an Apple MacBook Pro will prepare me for the technology demands of the 21st century and professional growth for the Teaching and Learning Frameworks. I will be able to incorporate content-based lessons to support technology and provide visual media to my students. I will also need technology in order to provide my students with adequate virtual education. Due to school closures, I will now have "class time" through, Zoom, an online program. Using this program requires me to have up to date technology. The MacBook Pro will allow me to open up learning to endless opportunities, it will help me create hands-on, customizable learning experiences for all of my students. The addition of a MacBook Pro enables interaction with online textbooks, a world of educational apps and platforms, and I can develop my own interactive learning materials. I am also requesting a carrying case to transport.
