Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Distance and remote learning has made learning very difficult for my students. Many are home with limited access to wifi or computers. Many have responsibilities to help their younger siblings. Most have to share a single computer among an entire household.
My students live in the south Bronx in small, cramped apartments.
This is not conducive to proper learning. But they do their best. They work hard. They understand that their education does not end with the lock-down.
My Project
A desktop computer will help me set up a workstation at home to help students with their remote learning. The desktop computer in conjunction with Zoom will allow me to help interact with students remotely.
I will be able to teach lessons and present material through Zoom.
I can model math problems. Students can follow along, and ask questions. It is important that the teacher interacts with students for them to fully comprehend the material. Students do not learn well through youtube or Khan Academy videos. They need to be instructed. A desktop computer will be a valuable asset in helping me teach students through remote learning.
