Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My fourth graders are eager learners who have the energy for days. Many of our students come from what are considered low-income families. 100 percent of the students in our school receive free lunch and breakfast. We are back to full-time in-person learning.

This pandemic has not stopped their love of learning one bit.

Even before the pandemic, our students come from situations adults would have a difficult time dealing with. Yet these children come ready to learn every day. They give us everything they can. We want to give them everything we can to help them achieve their full potential. These students would do anything to help each other. We want to do the same for them and keep them healthy and safe.

My Project

My classroom smart-board and document camera were recently upgraded, however, this changed the setup for projecting. I need a portable standing desk for when I am projecting shared materials to the class. My current setup prevents me from facing the students when projecting. This desk gives the space for my laptop when needed, a document camera, and the portable keyboard that goes with the new board.

My students love being able to use lap desks around the room, so having more lap desks would allow more students to work around the room.

This allows students a choice of where they work and choice makes students more successful.
