My Students
I work in a low-income area in Maine. My students come for a variety of home settings. They love school, they love learning and spending time together. They are very creative and bright. They spend most of their free time reading books we have in our library.
They also love art and are very creative. My desk is full of pictures and notes that they share with me weekly.
They are uniquely different but yet supports and encourages each other daily.
My Project
In our area of Maine, we are very limited to what art our children are exposed to and even to where we can buy art supplies. Supplies are almost a luxury for a classroom with the need for other educational materials.
MY STUDENTS LOVE ART AND THEY LOOK FORWARD TO EVERY THURSDAY FOR THEIR ART CLASS. I see how creative they are during their free time and from items they make at home and bring to school to show me.
My desire is to give them materials and supplies to help build on their creativity. Funding for this project will allow this to happen.
