My students need supplies to design and create their own Illinois state flags after researching what makes Illinois unique. They need fabric, felt, fabric markers, adhesives, and wooden dowels for the flag poles.
My students are fun-seeking, flashy learners! They are dedicated to their learning and love finding innovative ways to seek out knowledge. They have a variety of interests and they love sharing what they learn with others around them!
My school’s diversity rate is 0.68, which is more than double the states’s average of 0.31.

My Project
My students are researching Illinois and what makes it unique. They are investigating the state symbols, agriculture, goods, cultural trends, landmarks, etc. After they conduct their own research, they will be designing a new Illinois state flag based off of their findings. Not only will they design the new flags on paper, they will actually carry out and create the new flags using various materials such as muslin fabric, felt, and fabric markers. They will then present their flags and explain what factors influenced their designs. We will have a display day where the students can show off their creations.
