Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

In an inner-city school it is tough to get the attention of everyone. The right materials, these books, can help get our students attention and keep it.

We are a technology magnet school located in the inner-city.

The students applied to get in and thus have already exhibited an interest in engineering. The PLTW curriculum, while quite well done, can use augmentation at times. These books will complement the curriculum and provide real-world, everyday insight.

My Project

The books merge design with human factors and thus provide excellent examples of good and bad design in everyday things, such as doorknobs. These books will be used immediately by our seniors, and will be provided (assigned) to the rising seniors in June for summer reading. This will keep the students focused, and allow them to observe their environment through a different perspective.

Due to budget cutbacks, resources such as these books will not be made available to our students except through the generosity of donors like you.

These books will make a difference today, and for years to come.
