Help me give my students a 3D printer and filament to foster their design thinking and engineering minds by creating a variety of prototypes and products.
This summer our summer school program will be fully hands-on. Our goal is to foster our students' creativity, and problem solving skills through the design process. Our classes will be problem and project based (PBL), so students can work toward finding solutions to real world problems or create products to help solve a problem.
A 3D printer will allow our students to improve their computer sciences skills and test prototypes before creating final products.
PBL lessons and units foster an environment of collaboration. Our students spent almost two years isolated and these classes will allow them to collaborate and learn to work as a team.
Once the summer is over, our 3D printers will continue to be used for a variety of purposes, including but not limited to PBLs, digital art, and a makerspace. 3D printers will help students stretch their imaginations and think creatively to solve problems in ways others may not have thought of.
