Help me give my students the opportunity to learn various biological concepts. Students love learning science through the help of amoeba sisters who strive to demystify science with humor and relevance through videos, GIFs, handouts and comics.
Our school is a public 7-12 comprehensive high school employing a strong integrated curriculum, with special emphasis in engineering, computer information systems technology, entrepreneurship, and product design. The school also incorporates a strong fine arts component.
Biology, the study of life and living organisms, is a laboratory science designed to provide a comprehensive survey of the life science.
The curriculum strongly emphasizes the development of the conceptual framework for modern biology. Students are expected to design and evaluate their own laboratory experiments. The curriculum allows learners to conduct investigations that are meaningful to them and that highlight experimental design, analysis, and application of concepts. Students will use educational technologies as tools for learning. This program uses real word connections and thematic approaches that bridge the gap between familiar student experience and more abstract biology theories.
Our school opened in the fall of 2015 and graduated the first students to attend our school all 6 years in 2021. Our community believes in the unlimited potential of the human spirit and the extraordinary value of hard work. Our community challenges students in an interactive, collaborative environment that values individual differences while providing opportunities for all students to realize their potential.
My Project
These materials will allow students who are learning virtually and in person the ability to understand the many biological concepts with the help of Amoeba Sisters. Some important concepts that students struggle with are genetics, central dogma, cell division, cellular communication and cell transport.
These video guides found on Teachers Pay Teachers help students have a better understanding of these abstract concepts.
Students are given the opportunity to visualize these concepts which are crucial to biological science. Students will use these video guides to help follow along with key ideas and concepts.
