My Students

Big, bulky, space-taker-uper computers are what we have. It is as though our computer station takes over half our wall space.

I serve twenty, first grade student who live in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains of Kentucky.

They are bright, energetic, and very eager learners, who love learning. They are at a critical time in their lives, the beginning stages of reading and math.

My Project

I'm requesting laptops to reinforce reading and math skills. while limiting the space that our current computers monopolize in the classroom. I would like to create a laptop center that would require much less space. These laptops will do just that. Also, they will reinforce phonemic awareness, phonics, word attack strategies, comprehension, and fluency. In addition, math facts, number sense, measurement and time, and geometry concepts. Students will be able to access specific websites, allowing them to practice these first grade skills.

By giving to this technology project, students will be more mobile and have additional floor / wall space to use for added activities, and be provided the most effective technology for our classroom needs.
