Delivering Multi-sensory Learning Experiences During Remote Instruction

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students learn in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with multiple challenges both in and out of the classroom. All students in the district receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the many challenges my students face, the students arrive enthusiastically and are always excited to learn!
The students are learning from home with very limited materials to provide developmentally appropriate, hands-on lessons.
I am working to create remote learning to reflect the best practices in early childhood education. Through the integration of hands-on creative material and technology, I will provide a balance of receptive learning and understanding through exploration. This project will create a bridge between the visual and the kinesthetic experience of learning for preschoolers.
My Project
Our students are learning remotely for the second marking period of the 20-21 school year. This project is created to intentionally increase the developmental appropriateness for preschoolers who learn most effectively through multi-sensory, hands-on learning. The children will receive the materials needed for specific projects and intentional developmental goal achievement. The project includes necessary packaging that is recyclable and reduces the waste of unused materials that are sitting in our classroom closets. 5 Special Needs students will benefit from specific tools that will meet the readiness level as they progress toward the common goals of preschool learning; matching, sorting, spatial relation, and eye-hand coordination. All children grow at different paces and this will allow all to achieve developmental goals in early childhood.
