My students are exceptional learners who work hard every day to aquire the skills they need to communicate and learn functional life skills. They always have a smile and are excited to learn. They come to school ready to learn and ready to make friends with whoever they meet. My students happen to have a variety of intellectual disabilities but what defines them most is their tenacity. They won't let anything stand in thier way of learning and neither will I!
My students are amazing learners are always willing to try new skills. My students are working on the skills they need to communicate and be independent both at home and in the future workplace. The earlier we work on these skills in a meaningful way the more skills my students will acquire and the more likely they are to generalize the skills to other environments. In order to help my students acquire the skills they need we need supplies and materials to run a mail delivery business. Students will collect the mail from the mailbox that is sorted into folders and deliver it to the teacher during their planning.
Partner with us and help give my students to think they need to practice job skills early and often.
Through this business my students can practice their communication skills..They can also practice their sorting and sequencing skills. Some of my students will also practice reading a map and navigating the school building independently. All of these skills can have life-changing implications for them. These skills are the difference between staying at home after high school or being able to have a job.
