Fifth grade is an exciting year that allows students to grow and become more independent in their learning. This year is used to get all students ready for the big move to middle school. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and all come together to create our perfect little classroom family. Our classroom is a positive and student-centered learning environment. We have it all in one general education classroom- gifted learners, learning disabilities, emotions, reading deficits, ADHD... but we do not let it define us. We only use this to make us stronger.

My Project
Students enjoy working around the classroom, but often times can't get comfortable. This leads to less focusing and a longer time to complete assignments. With these different lap desks, they will have comfortable options to choose from each day. Each of these can easily be moved from location to location to assist in creating a space built on discussion within groups and sharing new ideas between learners. They will be able to make their own decisions making them feel in control of their learning.
Hopefully, they will make good choices which will impact not only their fifth-grade year but will set the stage for the remainder of their education.
I am also looking to start reading a picture book a day to my class and I thought this would be a great place to get started. Each book has a great lesson behind it that everyone will enjoy and learn from.
