My students come to class full of curiosity about the world around them. They walk into class ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything. We brainstorm on ways to persevere, to build community, be grateful of their surroundings, and to not be afraid to make mistakes. I strive to provide an environment that encourages all students to succeed and be proud of themselves.
Since we have launched Reader's Workshop at the beginning of this year, the student's have been enjoying reading independently and reading to their partners (or stuffed bears), like teachers. With the combination of Writer's Workshop and Reader's Workshop the children are constantly exposed to the language, and they are growing as writers and readers.
We would like to parallel their growth with more level "D" and "E" books in our library.
By increasing the number of level "D" and "E" books, the students will have a wider range of books to choose from. With a variety of books to choose from, I hope to keep their excitement for reading moving along a progressive path.
