Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am currently a middle school English Language Arts teacher in a high needs area. My students are English Language Learners and they would benefit from having these reference materials. We are a Title I school and our students strive to be the best but lack resources that they need to achieve.
The majority of the students in my school are struggling financially.
Some of our students even reside in shelters. Most students qualify for the state's free or reduced meal program. Due to the budget cuts schools are facing, teachers are no longer able to personally give each student the resources they desire. As part of the curriculum, students are required to understand the many ideas and concepts from all areas of literature and writing. Currently, there is no way to visualize and reference these concepts.
My Project
My NY students have a passion to discover and need a creative environment to stimulate their active imaginations. These students want to learn and deserve as stimulating an environment as more fortunate students. I would love to create an uplifting classroom for my kids. I want to inspire and motivate them when they walk into the room. These posters are all related to the ELA topics that we will cover throughout the year. The posters will be used as a tool to encourage curiosity and provide visual representations of the applications of writing and literature. Supplying me and my students with these posters would cover our bare boring walls and give the students reference points as well.
With your help, I hope to create an inviting classroom for my ELA classes.
This will be a place to reference and discover current classroom topics and also uncover other fascinating genres that they find interest in. Please help me create a thought provoking classroom for my underprivileged yet academically motivated students.
