This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a reading interventionist, I work with struggling readers. Many of my readers come from families that are high poverty or English Language Learners. My students struggle with reading because they do not have literacy rich home libraries or easy accesses to appropriate books.

Students who become confident readers have a greater chance of success in school.

Becoming confident readers involves identifying the deficits a reader has and providing interventions for them to catch up.

My job allows me to determine the needs of my students and come up with a plan for remediation.

My Project

My students want to learn to read, but some struggle with phonics. This phonics kit will allow me to provide reading intervention to these students. Students will become more confident readers as they discover patterns in words.

Students who receive early intervention on targeted skills have a better chance of academic success.

My students have a variety of needs as readers, and support with phonics is one need that I see with many of my students. Help me have the resources necessary to provide my students with the best start possible. Together we can help reading become magical for my students.
