My Students

My students are avid pursuers of social justice and advocacy. We have worked to build a collaborative community that focuses on these aspects through writing. They are champions of their own learning and frequently engage each other and outside members of the community in the learning process. We use interactive resources to fuel social discussion that teaches a consciousness beyond the norm.

Our classroom community is full of creative minds.

My students are surrounded by problems, they see and interact with them in their daily lives. However, they are not often asked for a solution. Through creating a classroom built on the idea of communal responsibility and social justice, we have been able to marry advocacy and rigor to become people who are solution-oriented. We seek to push that advocacy beyond our four walls and truly engage the world. We seek to create sustainable transformation in all areas of our lives.

My Project

As English Language Arts educators we are dedicated to ensuring each student is successful in reading and literacy. Through the use of these materials we will be able to decode each standard aligned to our instruction and use this analysis to help students grow. As life-long learners we welcome the opportunity to engage in resources that are rich in academic content and rigor. By diving into these texts, we will be given the opportunity to continue to grow ourselves, deepening our knowledge and expanding our resource pool. We are excited to continue learning and applying that learning directly to the classroom to engage students.
