My Students
I have the amazing opportunity to work with students who are struggling readers, most diagnosed with Dyslexia. Together we have the opportunity to use a variety of multi-sensory techniques and strategies to help with decoding, spelling, and writing.
My goal for them this school year is to provide them with an independent reading setting that invites them to cozy up and enjoy a good book. Finding a good book for struggling readers is not always easy. If a student is a lower-level reader, it is often difficult to find books that are not "baby-ish". I would like to create a decodable library with high interest, low-level books.
My Project
I have the opportunity to work with students who are struggling readers, and in most cases these students are older. I'd love to create a high-interest, lower-level decodable library for them.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. The special thing about the books I have chosen for this library is how age-appropriate they are, but also written so my students can code the words and enjoy the entire book independently!
