This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
"Our school is a great place. Teachers teach. Students learn. We succeed because we read. We are the home to the best kiddos in town." We live by our school motto. We recite it daily. We believe it!
Our students are the hardest workers, and they are hungry to learn.
We are focused on learning and we strive to see results. We are in the lowest socioeconomic part of our city. We aim to meet students basic needs every day before learning can take place.
My Project
Our district requires our students to wear uniforms to school. Most of our students get two shirts and two shorts to start the school year. Our students are in some really impoverished households with no extra money to replace uniforms when they are too small or simply just falling apart from repeated wear. At this time of the school year with over two months to go, our students need uniform shirts and shorts, shoes, belts, undergarments, and socks. They need belts because they are required. They need undergarments that fit. Often times, our students are not wearing socks and their shoes are too small. In addition, I want to have supplies on hand for the start of the school year in August. I want to have a special closet that can provide our students with the things that we take for granted-clean clothes that fit.
