My students need a TV for a first generation student who will be living on campus and uses a TV for design purposes for their major in college, plus other students need gift cards and a mini fridge.
The class of 2018 is a diverse, intelligent and highly motivated group of students. This class is full of future doctors, engineers, technicians, nurses and much more. They are going to schools across the country from schools in Florida, Wisconsin, Ohio, and of course, here in Michigan. Most going to schools have been offered full or partial tuition coverage.
This class of 2018 will not fail.
They are determined to succeed and do their very best at their future endeavors. Each senior has a success plan they will implement once they graduate. They have been equipped with the necessary tools to be successful at whatever they decide to do after graduation, and I know they will exceed even their own expectations.
My Project
These materials will allow some of the graduating seniors to breathe. These items will be given away to mostly first-generation students who cannot afford a TV or mini fridge on their own, so giving them away will be one less stress for them moving into their new home for the next four to five years.
Taking away unnecessary stress is the goal for this project.
The fridge, TV, Starbucks and Netflix gift cards will help these seniors make their transition from high school to college. I'm hoping these items make their new college life feel less stressful and encourage them to embrace their new studies.
The fridge will be used of course, to keep their leftover food from home or extra cafeteria food. The TV will be used as a tool for a design major student to make their learning experience easier when they're studying in their dorm. The gift cards will be used as a stress reliever for in between class time.
