Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach such a wide variety of students and they are wonderful! We struggle on a daily basis to find materials that meet students on various levels. Some of my students are eager to learn, while others are not, and we need materials that will reach all of the students.
I teach in a low-income school in Texas.
My students have wonderful potential, some of them need more motivation than others. I feel the materials I am requesting will give my students the motivation they need to succeed. The materials will also help those that are already successful because it will give them an enrichment opportunity.
My Project
I am so excited about the materials that I am requesting. I am asking for 6 sets each of Fraction tiles and Decimal tiles. I often have very large classes so having 6 sets of each will allow me to put my students into small groups and work with the tiles. This will allow a non-threatening environment for them to learn. I am requesting 1 fraction circle/ring that will allow me to work one-on-one with a student OR for students to use while peer tutoring. The workbooks that I am requesting are for math writing as well as cooperative learning.
Again, my students are great and can be eager to learn with the right materials.
