Debate, like most sports, builds a child's character. Our schools population is comprised from a Title One (Title I, Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended (ESEA) provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academics.) community. Our students that make our debate team whole, look forward to their opportunities on a weekly basis to grow, as well as form healthy relationships with their teammates and coaches. Over the last three years, our team has gone from inexperienced and nervous to confident and well-respected debaters at local and city/state wide events.
We would like to present our team with the opportunity of a lifetime.
Experiencing Washington D.C at such a young age with their fellow teammates, coaches, and teachers can really instill the drive to succeed, and further their debate skills on a national level.
My Project
Washington, D.C. is our nation's capitol and the backbone of American politics. Visiting the historical landmarks and museums can offer our students a chance to experience our country's culture firsthand.
All students should be provided with the equal opportunity to travel outside of their neighborhood in order to experience the rich culture of America.
The IS 2 debate team will visit the Smithsonian Museum, Washington Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial. They will also go to Georgetown University for their first college tour. This trip will offer the students insight into the development of our country, in addition to showing them the benefits of college.
