Dave Can Learn Physics Too!

Help me give my students to explore Physics. Physics is for everyone, not limited by their family incomes and resources.

My Students

This project is for my Regents Physics class.

Four students don't have a calculator (no cell phone either, of course.)

I know it is hard to believe at this time of age, but this it the reality in NYC public schools. I tried to get them one from the Dollar Tree. It does not have enough functions. It's kind of degrading too.

I want to get them each a decent calculator like those from Texas Instrument if I get funded.

My Project

These calculators will make it possible for at least two of my students able to do classwork, homework and tests in my Regents Physics classes. There are quite a lot of calculation involving exponents and trig functions in the curriculum. Students D and E have always 'borrowed' the calculators from their classmate or mine during the tests. Before Thanksgiving, I pulled them aside and gave them the 'ultamatum' that they must remember bring their own calculator to class. Student D almost burst into tears telling me he lost his calculator last year and his family can't afford to buy one. I can't image how tough it has been for him to sit through the class for almost three months without one. Student E has a similar story. These calculators will definitely help them throughout the whole course until taking the Regents exam in June 2022.
