This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work at a school that has very diverse learners. Our school is a low-income/high poverty school that is identified as a Title I school. This means students come from families who do not have the resources and background to support learning outside the classroom. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch at the school.
I am a special education teacher and I currently co-teach with an amazing general education teacher.
Together, we focus on personalized learning and teaching strategies that help my students excel in the classroom with their peers.
My Project
We all need help with organization! Keeping my students work and data organized, will help us prepare them for future learning in higher grades. That being said, we used folders like crazy in our classroom this year, but binders would hold up better. I use folders for daily data, weekly data, IEP data, and work examples for my kids. Because my students are often unable to purchase school supplies, my co-teacher and I try to provide them with as many school supplies as we can. These binders would help tremendously.
I would be able to provide my students with binders for many academic areas, as well as be able to put together a binder to send home with them at the end of the year to show their progress!
