"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow," John Dewey said. This describes our classrooms today. Incorporating technology into the classroom today is necessary to compete with the needs these children face.
My 18 enthusiastic 3rd graders are ready to learn something new every day.
They are eager to tackle the challenges they face each day in the classroom. Like most children, they learn by doing rather than seeing. These students attend a neighborhood school where most students walk or ride their bike to school each day. Our area was hit very hard by Hurricane Harvey. Much of our area is still recovering and many businesses are just starting to open back up.
Using Wonder Workshop Dash robot with the iPad, my students will be able to learn the language of coding. My students will use the iPad to communicate with the robot to make them write or draw, navigate through mazes, make them dance, or have them play music. They can make them do anything that their minds can come up with! The idea is that through play with these robots, my students can learn how to communicate using coding.
Incorporating Wonder Workshops Dash robot into our classroom will give my students the opportunity to learn a new skill that will help them in the future.
Working with these robots are a great way to encourage collaboration, teamwork, communication, and other life skills.
