I teach in a low-income/high poverty school district, many of my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite all the challenges some of them face they are still eager to learn.
These children inspire me every day to find better ways to teach them.
I moved to a new district and a new grade level this year! I am responsible for teaching 18 incredible minds this year! Please help us with our project!
I have a two iPad minis in my classroom from a successful project on donors choose in the past. I envision my students working together on the touch interface of the iPad mini to program the robot Dash in order to learn the basics of computer programming. With Dash, the computer programmable robot, my students will be exposed to a level of computer science that they otherwise would not have access to. They will one of the first groups of students at my school and even in the entire school district to have access to a learning tool like this. This will give my students an advantage and may encourage them to pursue a career path they would have never imagined without the exposure to this innovative technology. I want my students to see that computers are actually machines that you can program to do what you want.
