My students need a Dash and Dot wonder pack to learn how to code in an engaging way.

Our school is a Title I school that serves students from kindergarten through 8th grade. Although we have students who may have dealt with many hardships, that doesn’t stop them from wanting to learn. They encourage one another to do well and succeed just like a family does. Because we only have two buildings and one or two classes per grade, every student becomes part of the school family. As the STEM coordinator, my goal for these students is to better their educational experience and push them to want to further their education after 8th grade. My job is to prepare students for their future education and to get them career ready which is doable with the right materials and the right staff.
In order to prepare our students for the future, we need to expand our STEM curriculum.
It's important for students to have hands-on experiences with coding, programming and collaborative learning through project-based learning. Outside of school, some students are fortunate enough to have experiences with STEM and robotics; however, not all of our students have this opportunity. Therefore, I want to provide all of our students with this opportunity in school.
With the Wonder Pack my students will be able to become fully engaged as they learn how to code. The Dash and Dot robots will allow for students to see their coding come to life. They’ll be able to make these robots dance, launch items, move around, etc. depending on how they program the robot. At this moment the students have only been introduced to the idea of coding being similar to providing a list of instructions, but they haven’t been able to see their coding come to life. By using this Wonder Pack, the students will be able to go through the engineering process, work collaboratively, and see a final result of their work when they see the robots follow their coding program. My students are excited and ready to take coding to the next level and this Wonder Pack is what will get them there!
