Imagine being three years old and leaving home for the first time. Well, they are not traveling across the country but to these small little ones this may be their first experience in life without a parent to hold their hands. This is the moment they walk into a room and independence begins. My children come from various backgrounds but have chosen this school because of the unique opportunities that come with a public Montessori education. We are imaginative, creative, and compassionate.
My Project
I finally met the little blue man that may be able to drag me into this century. Today my students decided that I was raised in the Dark Ages. They may be right when it comes to technology. I love running a hands on classroom but after meeting the school's Dash and Dot robot, I am in love. He is the perfect device to introduce an active and intelligent Pre-K class to the benefits of computer interaction and coding. He has the capabilities to sing, dance, play instruments and read the children's writings with directions engineered for the young child. We do so many historical and scientific lessons that having the children be able to program him and use their voices to direct him with storytelling we are able to open a whole new world that combines technology with hands on interaction.
