My students are shared with the teachers with whom I work. As I provide literacy coaching in classrooms, I work with students ranging from 4K-8th grade, with a focus on elementary school.
Their teachers are learners- inviting me into their classroom to make their instruction and assessment even stronger.
We write student goals, construct a plan, and work together toward success.
Besides working inside classrooms, these teachers and I come together to learn. We study professional literature and children's literature, finding application for each in our classrooms. We share ideas and strengthen our school community at the same time.
Each year, several teachers across our elementary schools opt to participate in a Professional Practice book study. We've studied language, inquiry, and teacher resilience to name a few.
Teachers are born leaders; we lead our students, one another, our communities, and beyond.
Brene Brown's work has always been relevant to educators, but this work, Dare to Lead, comes with it's own set of teacher resources.
We plan to meet monthly to discuss this important resource, to learn and grow together, in the best interest of our schools and our students. Our teachers will feel empowered to take the action steps necessary so that all students can succeed.
