My Students

We have over 200 dance students and it grows each year. Our dancers are eager to learn and become the best dancers they can. Our high school has a diverse population of over 3000 students, our dance students typically choose to stay in the dance program for all four years of their high school career.

This year our program has two full-time dance teachers, each teaching six dance classes.

We also have an after-school dance company and a National Honor Society of Dance Arts that meets twice a month during lunch.

My Project

On this trip, our students will travel to downtown Charleston, to the beautiful Gaillard Center. Alvin Ailey Dance Theater will be presenting a lecture/demonstration to students across the lowcountry. Prior to this field trip our classes will have had a modern dance unit, in which they learned about Alvin Ailey and other modern dance choreographers.

Some of our students have only been downtown Charleston once or twice in their lives, despite it being only a thirty minute drive from their high school.

During this trip not only will our students observe a professional performance, but they will also get to explore Charleston, SC with their peers.
