This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

At our Title I school, on the east side of our town, our students are perceived as not having a fighting chance to attend a college or university. Overcoming this perception is one of the many challenges my students have to face. In my classroom, I see and feel how my students want to change the community’s perspective. My classroom is a place where my students can dream and know that someday they can be whatever they want, against all odds.

As someone who has walked down the same halls as my students, I know firsts hand the strength, determination, and ambition it takes to strive in a community like ours.

With your support, I will aid students to see their full potential and to believe in themselves, as I believe in every single one of them.

My Project

These materials will be used to further our understatement of movement. Our class will be exploring different locomotors (walking, jumping, running, sliding, leaping, galloping, etc.) and these will be tools that will be used to distort the movement and explore. The purpose of this is to have the students be comfortable and confident with the movement that they can produce. Many of the students have not taken a dance class before so a lot of this is new; thus, having the proper equipment is important to make sure the students properly execute the activities.
