Dance Dance Revolution!

My Students

My students live in a rural setting about one hour from a major city center in Texas. This small school serves approximately 190 high school students and about 220 middle school students. My students live on farms, small neighborhoods, apartments, and other living arrangements.

We have thriving theatre, speech, and debate programs with students attending more student events for acting competitions, speech and debate tournaments, and play festivals.

Students in my school are involved in multiple activities from Fine Arts, to sports, to agricultural classes. Most students have never left the state in which we live, and many students have never seen a live performance by a professional theater company.

My Project

Several students came to me and asked me to sponsor a dance team. My school, doesn't have a drill team, yet these students wanted another outlet. The club, allowing anyone who wants to join to do so, meets weekly and students are learning different genres of dance, while having fun exercising!

These ribbons and sticks will help the students learn new routines that are visually appealing and more complicated.

The teamwork needed to achieve the synchronization of the routines will also teach students to work together, to communicate better, and that exercise is FUN! I can't wait to see what these motivated, and talented students will dream up for their next number!
