Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are wonderful and unique. Each has a wonderful personality and is growing and learning every day. Seeing the gifts and talents the students exhibit is a major reward for teaching. I look forward to finding more ways to help the students display their learning in multiple ways. The students are busy with schoolwork and all the activities which are available. My students come from various backgrounds and differing socioeconomic status.

Even though they have challenges, they are hardworking and learning about the world around them.

My Project

Giving students feedback helps the students identify strengths and correct areas which are challenging. The challenge for teachers is grading quickly and giving the information to the students for these adjustments to be made. Using technology for daily quizzes and other student work can help streamline the process.

Making technology available in the classroom also allows the teacher to utilize fun and creative formative assessment tools which seem like games to students.

Through this project I want to give students an opportunity to research and display their skills outside of conventional paper and pencil assignments. I look forward to using the tablets to help the students feel more comfortable with online assessments and develop assessments which feel more like games than boring tests.
