My classroom is full of energetic, curious, and excited seven and eight year olds. They love to explore and do hands on activities as much as possible. They enjoy working with and learning from each other. They enjoy learning through games, movement, technology, and using manipulatives.
My hope is to provide each student with a binder full of fun and engaging math activities.
For many students, math is very challenging. I hated math as a child. Math was something I struggled to understand until I was in upper elementary. It took an enthusiastic teacher and a new approach to help me understand and eventually love math! This is what I want for my students. I want to help reduce the amount of math anxiety and increase a love for math and learning!
My Project
Math is one of those subjects that causes a lot of anxiety for many people. When I first started teaching, I taught math the traditional way, direct instruction and then practice. I quickly realized that this was not for me. It did not fit my teaching style and many of my students dreaded math. I love to incorporate games and activities into math class. I have found that my students typically love math and I rarely get groans when it is math time. My project is to create a math binder for each student. These binders will have cards, dice, and math activities for each student. Help me continue a love for learning and a love for math for each of my kiddos. Thank you so much for your donations. It is greatly appreciated!
