Help me give my students continued success in their life skills training. We are in need of more supplies for our Snack Shack as well as cleaning items, as we teach daily living skills on a daily basis.
Where do I begin? I am one of the luckiest teachers on the planet. I have been teaching for the past 23 years, all teaching students with significant disabilities. We laugh a lot and learn a lot. The best thing I can say is to not underestimate my kids. They are incredible people.
Our school is in a very small community and therefore the resources available for our students are limited.
Our parish was just hit with some pretty harsh cutbacks. This makes it very difficult to teach my students everything I aim to teach them.
We do a lot of hands-on learning in my class from cooking to cleaning; anything job and life skills related. Because of this, we are in constant need of supplies.
My Project
We are off to a very successful school year. Our Snack Shack is up and running and we are constantly running out of stock. Some of our favorites are Pop Tarts, Oatmeal cups, K-cups, breakfast bars and hot fries. With cold weather coming, we also need some hot chocolate k-cups.
The money made with our Snack Shack as been used to purchase Graduation Rings for some of our seniors as well as Christmas Gifts.
Because of the continued support we have been getting, my class has been able to thrive with our store as well as life skills. We hope to be able to continue our store for a long time!
