My students are middle school English learners. They work so hard to be fluent in English and do well in all of their classes. We work on the four domains of language in ESL class. They read, write, listen, and speak in English -- even if they are a newcomer!
My students are from Central America but now call Alcoa, TN their home.
Our neighborhood is diverse in ethnicities and socioeconomic statuses. Our school is a mirror image of the community. We take pride in our diversity and our English learners are an integral piece of our school. They are special to us because they teach us about the world around us and bring vast knowledge from their home countries.
My Project
ESL students need to excel in all language domains in order to be successful. Listening and speaking are easier for my students to master. However, reading and writing are more difficult areas.
These products will help my students master the grammar needed to be effective writers in English.
Additionally, we do not have a pencil sharpener and we need this as a basic supply to be able to write. We will also use the index cards to practice writing vocabulary words.
The daily grammar books will help my students through grammar issues every day. Each day they will come in and have a daily grammar problem to fix. Then they will write their own example correctly. Then they will be able to apply what they have learned to their writing using the project-based learning writing book. This will help them become the great communicators that they need to be to excel in academics.
