Daily Five Listening Center For Ms. Davis' 3rd Graders
My students need a listening center and cd player to support their Daily Five reading rotation. Listening and following along with quality literature is important in becoming fluent.
I am a new teacher in Maryland. I am so excited about this opportunity, but did not realize how much of my funds would be necessary in setting up a Quality Learning Environment. Our kids are so motivated to learn and deserve every opportunity to engage in literacy activities. Please help us!
Here at our school in Maryland we have incredible scholars.
The children are highly motivated, but lack the resources needed for learning. This community is full of hard working families that have grand hopes and dreams for their children. Unfortunately, monetary and time contributions are limited. It is time to level the playing field for these talented students. They need the same resources and opportunities as all children do!
My Project
My students are using Daily Five for their reading rotations. One of the five is listening to quality literature. We are hoping to get a boom box that plays CDs and cassettes. The boom box has an adapter for 8 students to sit and listen together. Each student has a book and headphones. The students are able to follow along with the book while gaining fluency by listening to a fluent reader. After listening they will be able to participate in a book talk. Listening and speaking about quality literature are essential in becoming a FLUENT reader.
