This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My school is a special admit high school in the southwest Philadelphia area.

I love the diversity of my student population as well as their energy, enthusiasm, and desire to learn.

They come to school daily with excitement, desire and a commitment to learn and become the best they can with their health, wellness, and knowledge about how to limit health risk and risky behaviors.

There are 401 students currently enrolled for the 2019/20 school year.

The race-ethnic composition is black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, White, Asian and multiracial/other. We also have Special Ed students and English language learners.

My Project

The entire student body will benefit from these needed supplies, equipment, and uniforms while participating in daily PE class and during PIAA varsity sports competitions and activities. Our students need to be active daily for at least an hour to learn how to perform various exercises and sports properly.

There is a rise in obesity, heart disease, diabetes, asthma, and other chronic illnesses currently.

Having these supplies, equipment, and uniforms will enhance and improve the overall PE/athletic program so the students will be able to properly, safely exercise and perform the skills needed for various sports and establish and maintain healthy active safe fun-filled lifestyles.
