This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My class rocks! I currently teach 80 amazing 4th grade students. Our school is a Title I school where all students receive free lunch. Many of these students come from single-income families and attend schools with very little supplies. The ability of parents to purchase pencils and paper for some students is not possible.
In a world of technology students also need basic supplies to succeed in the classroom.
My Project
Each student will have the supplies needed to complete their daily activities in the classroom. Many students are not able to bring the needed supplies from home. Therefore they can not cut, paste, and write on assignments. We use interactive notebooks for resources that require these materials. I have found that many times students will feel upset when they do not have their own materials. By funding this project each student will be able to proudly pull out their supplies for their daily work. Feeling confident and prepared is a major win for our students. Again these materials will be used by the students to create notebooks, write, and stay organized.
