My students need materials for their Daily 5 Literacy Centers. We need comfortable places to sit, storage solutions for our materials, and various supplies.
Reading is the foundation of what children need in order to learn throughout their entire school career. My first graders use Daily 5 Literacy Centers in order to build their reading, writing, and word work skills. We need materials in order to do Daily 5 correctly and effectively.
I have 23 wonderful, excited, bubbly first graders who I get to share my day with every day!
They have an eagerness to learn, and they especially love to become better readers!
My students love doing Centers in the classroom! With the materials that I am requesting, students will have the opportunity to do fun and engaging activities that make it even more enjoyable. With big pillows, they can get comfy so they don't need to be sitting in a hard, plastic chair while reading. They'll use new, exciting materials like stamps and special markers/pencils so that doing writing is more interesting. And having all of their materials in a clean, organized places will give them easy access and they'll be able to do the activities independently.
I have seen Daily 5 work wonders in classrooms, but it is so important to have the right materials and get the students excited about it in order for it to be effective. I hope to be able to offer my students these great opportunities!
My Project
Daily 5 is a "framework for structuring literacy time so students develop lifelong habits of reading, writing, and working independently" (thedailycafe.com). These materials will allow students to work independently on literacy centers while I work with students in small groups or independently. The materials will make the activities fun and engaging so that students not only learn a lot while completing the centers, but have fun while learning! I have requested comfortable places to sit while they are reading and different storage solutions to keep all of our materials organized, so they are easy for students to use independently.
These materials will make doing these centers more fun and engaging.
They will add to my classroom environment by making it more comfortable and inviting, and encourage the students to use different materials that will enhance their learning. I am excited to share these materials with my students and show them how they can be useful to their education.
