My Students

Kindergarten has always been a special and unique part of an elementary school. It is the welcoming door to formal K-12 education.

Kindergarten students come with an excitement and love of learning.

My students are a busy bunch. They need activities that will push them all at their own levels. The structure of Daily 5 allows students to create their own investment in their reading. The decisions students make drive thier individual learning. This all happens with the classroom teacher monitoring and guiding their progress and tailoring instruction to their needs.

I enjoy all the learning by doing, exploring, sharing new ideas, and seeing all the growth that happens during a year of Kindergarten. I like being part of the foundation that will follow students as life long learners.

My Project

I have been using Daily 5 for a few years and I LOVE it. It provides students with choice and builds independence and stamina. With choice comes a love of learning and and avenue to direct their own reading.

This conference is all for Kindergarten.

This training will allow me to further my practice and make reading even more exciting and more attainable for my beginning readers! Planning and providing Individualized instruction and learning will be part of this workshop. Daily 5 includes word work and Work on Writing. This workshop will specifically talk about Kindergarten phonic awareness and the early writing stages.

The other important factor is that the presenter is one of the two original creators of Daily 5, not a consultant or employee. Her history and knowledge will be both deep and useful.
