it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
“Play is the only way the highest intelligence of humankind can unfold.” ~ Joseph Chilton Pearce
Do you remember when you learned social skills, creativity, hand eye coordination, problem solving, and how to use your imagination through play?
My kindergarten students are from a low income urban city in Massachusetts. Many of us are learning how to speak, write, and read English for the first time. We are an eager, enthusiastic, active group of students who love to learn from each other. We are eager to expand the materials we have to help us learn through play. We want to promote independent problem solving skills, creativity, social skills and imagination through play to help us become 21st Century learners.
My Project
The English Language Development kits are packed with engaging hands-on activities, the centers help students build critical English language skills—from writing sentences to listening and following directions! Children just follow the simple instructions on each write & wipe activity card to complete sentences with word tiles…listen to an audio CD as they read along with flip books…practice vocabulary with picture cards…and more. When kids are ready, they use the included answer cards to check their own work! Complete set includes all 4 centers shown, each with 15 activity cards, enough hands-on materials for up to 4 children to use at once, 4 write & wipe markers and a guide.
The create a burger sequence allows children to build one delicious burger after the next—developing sequencing and fine motor skills as they go!
Kids choose a card showing a mix of ingredients, and then stack pieces onto the base to match the order shown. You get 10 activity cards, a wooden base and 7 wooden ingredient pieces. This will help us to write our how to stories that sequence events in chronological order.
