Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember the moment you realized animals have babies? Or that plants change? Even maybe your first science experiment?
My loving and wonderful students come from an economically depressed area of town and attend a district that has had major funding cuts.
This does not allow a budget for supplies much less materials we need to expand their learning. The majority of my students are English Language Learners and learn best with interactive and visual materials.
My Project
More than anything I would love for all my students to have a love of learning and science. Science can be a difficult concept when your first language is not English or if you have materials you cannot read. Many of my students are low readers. The Science Reader set is at their level, but written with a high interest. This will make them feel successful and knowledgable. The Animal Match-Up cards will allow them to practice what they have learned independently, while self-checking. The Plant Activity CD is an interactive way to learn about plants and aids those who learn more visually. Lastly, the Science Quiz Game Show CD makes practicing, reviewing, and learning more visual and exciting.
If you choose my class project, you will be funding wonderful children with great potential.
If this project is funded, it may spark a lifelong love of science. Thank you for looking into our project.
