Cutting Up in Art

Help me give my students a means to cut down oversized paper. The paper cutters that we have in class are not accurate, tear paper, and are heavy to move.

My Students

I teach students in 6-8th grade. They are from diverse backgrounds and in a military community. Some of our students have seen the world by traveling with their family and others have never left the area. This gives us the opportunity to learn from one another and become better leaders.

My students are inquisitive and love exploring new technology.

They all have laptops issued by the school and use them in every class. The implementation of new technology has changed our school and allowed for more individualized instruction. This allows our students to be more engaged and allows the teachers to have more effective instruction. Our school is filled with creative staff and students. We work together to build a community focused on success.

My Project

My students need a safe and accurate paper cutter to trim over sized papers. The current paper cutting methods that we have in class are large, heavy, and not accurate. They tear the paper when used and do not create straight cuts. I do not trust even older students to use them safely.

It is more cost effective to order larger paper and trim it to sizes that we use in class.

When students are working on collage, painting, pastel, and drawing projects, they need to trim paper to specific sizes. This paper trimmer will allow my students to create paper in the sizes that they need for their projects.
