Help me give my students Cricut Explore Air 2 Machine. This machine will help me and my coworkers cut shapes, letters, and numbers we can use in our Math and Literacy Workstations.
I teach kindergarten to 50 students. Currently, I teach math and science, and my co-teacher teaches them English language arts and social studies. My students are very kind, compassionate, active, and eager to learn. Our theme this is year is Learning is Sweet and I am excited to welcome our "sweeties" to school.
Our community was affected by Hurricane Harvey and we are still recovering.
I was happy to see the school and community come together helping each other so our students, faculty, and families could return to school and resume learning. My students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds.
Having different backgrounds means I get the opportunity to learn about different cultures other than my own. Our school overall is very diverse, and we love to celebrate diversity while teaching students at an early age about accepting and appreciating people who are different from them. Teaching 50 students, I have an opportunity to experience this.
My Project
Teaching Kindergarten means we have to meet students where they are. This year, we are noticing students who are struggling with basic skills like fine motor skills, alphabet and number identification, and handwriting. We decided we need to create activities to help students master these essential skills during their workstation time.
We cannot move our students forward without teaching them the very basic skills and setting a strong foundation for success.
In addition to the cutting machine, I am requesting Astrobrights Colored Cardstock so we can have paper needed to create shapes, letters, and numbers on the cutting machine.
