Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My amazing art students are creative; they are willing to go outside the box and outside their comfort zones to explore new materials and methods of art-making and expression.
My students are eager to learn, excited about art, and energetic.
They love learning new methods and materials, and using their personal lives and experiences as ideas and springboards for their artwork.
I'm excited to try new things with them this school year, and hope to continue that learning in the years to come!
My Project
We would like a Cricut machine and supplies for our classroom. The Cricut machine would be the perfect addition to our art room!
Students can use the Cricut to create their own stickers, labels, and heat transfers for shirts and more!
We will explore logo creation in art class and they can brand their binders, bags, and clothing with their personal creations. With this Cricut machine, students can upload their own personal designs, cut them into the vinyl sheets and apply them to surfaces such as their binders and water bottles. In art, we explore font creation and calligraphy - the pens will help us design our own fonts and "print" our writing! When not in "normal" lesson use, we plan to place the Cricut machine in our classroom for kids to print, cut, and create their own designs as an enrichment activity.
The vinyl and heat transfer sheets will allow us to create these items in a variety of colors, and the adhesive backing will help us put our designs where we want them. The EZ Press will help us in creating heat transfers, as well.
A Cricut machine will help us stay organized, as well. This organization helps my students retrieve their own supplies, take ownership of the art room/studio space, and allows them to feel comfortable to create! We can make vinyl stickers/labels and also use the Cricut to decorate our space.
