This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students live on the south side of Chicago where many are affected by the senseless violence that strikes our community. These conditions make the neighborhood unsafe for our students to comfortably live and play. Our school is the one place that they feel safe.
Even though our students are faced with unfavorable conditions, they show resilience and the desire to come to school every day to learn what it takes to become productive members of their communities and society - even virtually.
I am dedicated to ensuring that each and every child is equipped with social skills and support their emotional well-being to build their resilience to withstand the circumstances they are faced with daily.
My Project
My students talent amaze me everyday. Many of them have skills that go way beyond the scope of reading and math. We have students that have interest in various areas of arts, science and technology. We also have many students that exhibit an entrepreneur drive. Unfortunately, our school does not offer many opportunities to tap into these skills and interest.
This project will support many students that have an interest in arts, science, technology and entrepreneurship.
The printer will allow students to have a hard copy of their work to share with peers, during class or display for public school view. The printer and Cricut maker will also permit students to be creative and add to their display of arts and science.
