This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In our low-income, high-poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. I specifically work with English Language Learners. Most students have parents who struggle to understand the needs in the classroom and cannot give all that we ask. These students work on not only understanding in school but also bringing it home for their parents and allowing them to also learn alongside their children. This project will be a huge reminder of all they learned in school.

My Project

The project that I would like to create with students is letting them build their own letters and number books. In using a die cutter and a computer I can see students creating their own cut out letters with pictures that they can attach. I see them having a scrapbook of learning throughout the year. Usually, the problem that many classrooms have is that the teachers are only able to print worksheets in black and white. Learning can become boring.

I want to bring art supplies, die cutters to bring different colors, letters, and numbers into the world of Kindergarten learning.
